Oversight

The Legislature holds the Executive accountable and scrutinises departmental performance and expenditure.

Law-making

The Legislature has the constitutional power to consider, pass, amend, or reject any bill before the Legislature.

Public participation

Citizens may attend committee meetings, submit petitions, and participate in public hearings and sectoral parliaments.

Accountability

Committees use oversight tools such as meetings, site visits, public hearings, and sectoral engagements to monitor service delivery.

Representation

Thirty Members are elected to represent the people of the Free State proportionally through political parties.
