The Office of the Speaker hosted the South African Human Rights Commission (SAHRC) as part of efforts to strengthen cooperation in advancing human rights across the Free State.
Human Rights Commissioner, Advocate Sandra Makoasha, and Provincial Manager, Mr Thonoko Modise, joined the engagement to discuss key issues affecting communities in the province.
The meeting reinforced the importance of institutions working together to address community challenges, promote accountability, and protect the dignity of all citizens.
In closing, Hon. Speaker Mxolisi Dukwana said:
“People’s dignity must remain at the centre of everything we do. We must also promote a culture of accountability, while recognising that effective leadership requires a willingness to be led.”
The Free State Legislature remains committed to promoting accountability, protecting human dignity, and strengthening partnerships that advance the rights and wellbeing of the people of the Free State.
